Tarmac driveways for everyday use
Tarmac is a reliable, hard-wearing surface that suits most family homes and shared access driveways. When laid on a properly built sub-base with clean edges and correct falls, it provides a smooth finish that stays tidy and copes well with daily parking.
We install tarmac driveways across Kent, East Sussex and Surrey. The focus is on practical layouts, neat lines, solid groundwork and a finish that looks smart year after year.
Typical tarmac work we carry out
- New tarmac driveways for houses and bungalows
- Shared access driveways and private roads
- Farm and yard entrances where a simple hard surface is needed
- Small car parks and forecourts for local businesses
- Repairs, patching and overlays if the base is still sound
- Tie-ins to kerbs, pavements and existing drive areas
If you send a postcode, rough measurements and a few photos, we can usually give a realistic guide price before visiting.
Groundwork, edges and drainage done properly
The strength of a tarmac driveway comes from what sits underneath. We dig out to the correct depth, remove soft material and install a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base so the surface doesn’t sink or pump later.
We set falls so water runs away neatly rather than pooling. Where needed, we add simple drainage channels or connect into existing gullies.
Edges are finished with kerbs, block paving or concrete to contain the tarmac and stop it breaking away at the sides. This keeps the driveway looking crisp and makes maintenance easier.
