When a resin overlay makes sense
If your driveway is already tarmac or concrete and it’s still in good shape, a resin overlay can transform the look quickly and cost-effectively. The resin bound layer is laid over the existing surface, giving you a seamless finish in a natural stone blend.
But overlays aren’t a “cover-it-up” job. If there’s movement underneath, the same cracks will come back through the resin later. That’s why we only overlay when the base passes our checks.
Good candidates for a resin overlay
- Solid tarmac driveways with no sinking, pumping or soft spots
- Concrete driveways with only minor hairline cracking
- Surfaces where drainage already works and water has somewhere to go
- Driveways sitting at safe levels against damp proof courses and thresholds
A couple of clear photos and your postcode usually lets us say quickly whether an overlay looks realistic before we visit.
Stone colours & tidy edging
Resin overlays come in the same natural blends as full resin bound driveways: warm golden tones, traditional browns, modern greys and charcoal mixes. We’ll guide you to colours that suit your property and the street.
Edging matters on overlays as much as new drives. We can frame overlays with brick, block paving, stone or concrete kerbs to keep the line crisp and the resin neatly contained.
