Block paving driveways that stay level

Block paving can look smart for years if the groundwork is done properly. That means digging out soft ground, installing a solid sub-base, compacting everything correctly and getting the drainage right before any blocks are laid.

We build block paving driveways across Kent, East Sussex and Surrey with a focus on the parts you never see: the foundations, the levels and the work that stops dips or movement later on.

Popular block paving options

  • Standard block paving in greys, charcoal and multi-tone blends
  • Traditional block paving for period or character homes
  • Modern paving blocks for clean, minimal driveways
  • Edging blocks in contrasting colours to frame the driveway
  • Drainage channels to help manage rainwater on sloped driveways

If you prefer, we can recommend block colours that match your property or show you examples from recent driveways.

Driveways built with proper ground preparation

The key to long-lasting block paving is in the groundwork. We excavate to the correct depth, install a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, screed the sharp sand evenly and ensure levels fall in the right direction so water does not sit against the house.

Edging stones or kerbs create strength at the sides of the driveway, helping keep everything locked in place under everyday use.

Block paving driveways across Kent, East Sussex & Surrey

We install block paving driveways in a wide area, including Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, the Medway towns, Heathfield, Uckfield, Crowborough, Reigate and Redhill. If you are near any of these locations, we can usually visit quickly.

Every driveway is slightly different, so after seeing the access, slopes and existing materials, we explain the best approach and provide a clear quotation.

When block paving is a good choice

Block paving works well if you want:

  • A tidy, decorative driveway that lifts the front of the property
  • A choice of block colours, borders, patterns and finishes
  • A driveway that handles daily parking and turning
  • A surface that is easy to repair if needed without patch marks

If you are not sure whether block paving, tarmac, resin or tar & chip suits your driveway best, we can talk through the options and give an honest recommendation.

Resin bound driveways

Resin bound driveways are becoming more popular across Kent, East Sussex and Surrey. They give a smooth, modern finish with a choice of natural stone colours, and can work well where you want a smarter look without the pattern of block paving.

As with any driveway, the important part is what sits underneath. We focus on getting the excavation, sub-base and edging right first so the resin has a solid foundation. Where needed, we can look at existing surfaces and advise if they are suitable to overlay or if they should be removed and rebuilt.

Resin driveway guide prices

Resin overlay: starting from £40 per m²

Guide prices are based on larger areas with a sound existing surface and are worked out on generous square metre measurements.

Resin bound surfacing can be a good option if you:

  • Want a clean, modern look without block joints
  • Prefer natural stone colours that tie in with the house and garden
  • Need a surface that is smooth underfoot and easy to sweep

If you are considering a resin driveway, sending photos and a brief description of the existing surface helps us see what is realistic before any visit.

Resin driveways for typical homes

Most of the resin work we carry out is for standard family homes and bungalows rather than show homes. The aim is a driveway that looks smart every day, is straightforward to look after and fits in with the surrounding street.
